Jamaica – Pre-shipment Inspection (PSI)

The Trade Board Ltd. (TBL), an Agency of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries of the Government of Jamaica has appointed Autoteminal Japan Ltd. (ATJ) as an Accredited Inspections company for Pre-shipment Inspection (PSI) Program for used motor vehicles imported to Jamaica on 1st February, 2018.

The Pre-shipment Inspection Certificate (PSIC) is one of the requirements of issuing an import permits for all used motor vehicles imported to Jamaica.

All vehicles not yet shipped will require a PSIC from ATJ before an import permit is issued by the Trade Board Limited (TBL). The vehicles arriving without PSICs (and therefore without TBL import Permits) will be re-exported at the owner’s expense or scrapped and sold for parts by the Jamaica Customs Agency (JCA). Such unlicensed vehicles will under no circumstances be allowed into Jamaica.

Age at Importation

The age limit shall be as shown below:

Cars
Sedans: Seating capacity not exceeding 5 persons
Not exceeding Six (6) years
Station Wagons: Seating capacity not exceeding 8 persons
Not exceeding Six (6) years
SUVs: Seating capacity not exceeding 8 persons
Not exceeding Six (6) years
Light Commercial Vehicles
Buses: Seating capacity not exceeding 8 persons
Not exceeding Six (6) years
Pick Up Trucks: Unladen weight not exceeding 1,500 Kg
Not exceeding Six (6) years
Pick Up Trucks, Other Small Trucks: Unladen weight 1,501 Kg – 3,000 Kg
Not exceeding ten (10) years
Panel Vans
Not exceeding ten (10) years
Window Vans
Not exceeding ten (10) years
Buses: Seating capacity 9 – 14 persons
Not exceeding ten (10) years
Commercial Vehicles – Buses
Seating capacity 15 – 20 persons
Not Exceeding Twelve (12) years
Seating capacity 21 – 30 persons
Not Exceeding Fifteen (15) years
Seating capacity 31 – 45 persons
Not Exceeding Twenty (20) years
Seating capacity exceeding 46 persons

Odometer Reading

Odometer shall not fraudulent tampering or replacement clusters.
